The two most common binding systems for filing punched papers are probably the file folder with a lever arch mechanism or ring mechanism and the folder with a file mechanism, consisting of metal file prong and cover strip.
But both binding systems have advantages and disadvantages. Folders and ring binders require a lot of storage space due to the built-in mechanics. The big advantage of folders and ring binders is their ease of use. This allows you to turn over the filed pages easily.
Unlike a loose-leaf binder. There must be bent the pages to turn over, which makes handling difficult. A file folder does not need much storage space. At least a little more than the stacked pile of paper itself.
A spiral spring mechanism offers you the advantages of both binding systems and at the same time eliminates the disadvantages. If the spiral spring mechanism is closed, that is, the spiral springs are locked in the hook cover strip, a spiral folder hardly needs any storage space, such as a file.
If you remove the hook compressor and put the spiral springs on the opposite attached transfer mechanism, the filed sheets can be easily turned over, as on a ring binder or lever mechanism.
